OVERTURE — 향에 대하여
Past a single gate, the sound thins.
문 하나를 지나면, 소리가 줄어듭니다.
Deep inside Changdeokgung there was a place where even a king could stop being king for a while.
창덕궁 깊숙한 곳에는, 왕도 잠시 왕이 아니어도 되는 시간이 있었습니다.
Nonür did not bottle how Biwon looks. Nonür bottled one of its days — morning rain, the pond at noon, candles in the evening. In order.
노뉘르는 비원의 풍경이 아니라, 그곳의 하루를 담았습니다. 아침의 비, 한낮의 연못, 저녁의 촛불. 순서대로 지나갑니다.
Just after the rain stops
아침 — 비가 그친 직후The scent of a damp morning garden rises from the wet earth and the pine bark.
젖은 흙과 소나무 껍질에서 촉촉한 아침 정원의 향이 올라옵니다.
At the tip of a juniper berry, a raindrop still holds, not yet fallen.
주니퍼베리 끝에는 아직 떨어지지 않은 빗방울이 맺혀 있습니다.
The late spring rain stops, and sunlight seeps through the trees, onto me.
늦봄의 봄비가 그치고, 나무 사이로 햇빛이 나에게 스며듭니다.

Arriving at Buyongji
낮 — 부용지에 닿으면The walk slows.
걸음이 느려집니다.
Unlike the peonies blooming bright on the terraced beds up the hillside in late spring, the lotus keeps to the water, quietly holding Biwon — as the name Buyongji has always suggested.
늦봄에 언덕을 따라 층층이 오른 꽃밭의 화려한 작약과 달리 연꽃은 부용지라는 연못의 이름답게 조용히 물 위에서 비원을 지킵니다.
The afternoon of Biwon in late spring is radiant, yet it never asks to be seen.
늦봄 비원의 낮은 화려하지만 눈에 띄려 하지 않습니다.

Leaving Biwon, as the sun leans
저녁 — 해가 기울어 비원을 나올 때쯤이면Through the darkened trees, the scent of moss grown in north-facing shade rises.
어두워진 나무 사이로 북향 그늘이 기른 이끼의 냄새가 올라옵니다.
The warmth of candles, lit one by one, spreads over the old palace timber and wraps all of Changdeokgung, far beyond Biwon.
그리고 하나둘 켜지는 촛불의 따스함이 오랜 고궁의 나무 기둥을 덮으며 비원을 넘어 창덕궁 전체를 아늑하게 감쌉니다.
The morning rain has not dried yet, but warmth settles over it.
아침의 비는 아직 마르지 않았지만 그 위로 온기가 내려앉습니다.

비원의 가장 깊은 곳에는 소요정(逍遙亭)이 있습니다. 소요(逍遙)는 목적 없이 거닌다는 뜻입니다.
Not to gain. Not to prove. Only to wander.
얻기 위해서도, 증명하기 위해서도 아닌. 그저 거닐기 위해.
